Tyler, Patrick Norton, Digital Life TV, Ajax, Ruby

Yes, these are all nouns we like here at Zvents. Well, they all came together tonight as Tyler talked AJAX and Ruby on Rails with Patrick Norton on Tech TV. You can download this segment at Ziff Davis’ site. I’d tell you when Tyler comes on, but you should watch the whole cool show. Thanks to Digital Life TV, and thanks to all the open-source guys who built these rockin’ projects!

Google Map View Search Results

One of the inspirations behind Zvents is Google Maps. When we saw how the team at Google had created a navigable way of presenting place information that truly enhanced user understanding, we said, “Why can’t we do the same thing with time *and * location information?” So we made our search results viewable in lists, in Google Maps, and in a variety of dynamic calendar forms. We’re pretty impressed with Google Maps – the API is great, the service is free, and the net result is highly interactive and dynamic. Check out this map search result for theater in San Jose next month – with dynamic lists inside the popup balloons, this is a key part of our presentation of time/place information. We’ve been in touch with the team over at Google Maps, and they’ve been very helpful and supportive. Thanks for building a great product guys, and we look forward to doing great things together!
